EMPLOYMENT LAW

We advise and act for both Employers and Employees.  Having experience on both sides enables us to be sensitive to all aspects of this fast changing area of the law.

Employment Law is technical and a failure to follow the correct procedures can be prejudicial and costly.  It is therefore important to seek advice at an early stage.

This is an important area of our practice and our service covers most aspects of Employment Law: starting from where there is a dispute between Employee and Employer at the initial stages of a disciplinary or grievance process to all steps taken on to an Employment Tribunal or in negotiating a settlement via a Compromise Agreement.

On the non-contentious side we advise Employers on changes in legislation, preparation of Employment Contracts, Staff Handbooks and drafting Compromise Agreements.

Not infrequently enquiries are received from prospective claimants to find out whether or not they may have a good case to pursue.  In some instances (this is discretionary) we operate a concessionary ½ hour fixed fee arrangement which clients on a limited budget have found to be helpful.  For claimant employees the first 10 minutes of an initial appointment is free.

We deal in most areas of Employment Law including:-

  • Employment Contracts and Directors Service Agreements

  • Compromise Agreements (Preparing, advising and negotiating)

  • TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings)

  • Unfair dismissals and wrongful dismissals/breach of contract

  • Redundancy

  • Equal opportunities (including disability, age and orientation discrimination)

  • Disciplinary and grievance procedures

  • Bullying and harassment claims (including stress and psychiatric injury)

  • Data protection

  • Whistleblowing

  • Working time

NOTE:

An important part of Employment Law where we regularly provide expert advice concerns mutually agreed terminations under a Compromise Agreement whether or behalf of an employer or employee.

We also advise self employed persons and prepare contracts for services and advise on partnership disputes and dissolutions.
