FURTHER INFORMATION
FUNDING/COSTS - LITIGATION AND GENERALLY
We do not do
any legal aid work – mostly private fee paying work and
Legal Expenses or After the Event (ATE) insurance backed
cases.
Costs are
charged on a time (i.e. hourly) basis but fixed costs can be
agreed in certain instances.
Our hourly
charging rate is reviewed annually.
Free Advice -
This is
available for Personal injury and prospective
Business Start Ups. We do not make any charge for the
initial interview for up to ˝ hour (i.e. this is free).
In employment matters involving Claimant Employees the first
10 minutes of an initial appointment is free.
Conditional
Fees (“No Win No Fee”) – Whether in
respect of legal expenses insurance cover or ATE funding
these can be agreed in a variety of different litigation
cases subject to the merits of the case. In Employment
Tribunal claims we can agree to act on a contingency fee
basis subject to the merits and nature of the particular
case.
Concessionary Fixed Fee for Initial Appointments -
We operate a
discretionary Fixed Fee to individual clients for initial
interviews for up to ˝ hour – particularly where a
person wishes to find out if they have a good case or
whether or not initial advice will be sufficient to deal
with any problem or legal query.
We regularly
deal with the Bar both locally and in London and have good
contacts with specialist Counsel’s Chambers (e.g.
employment, personal injury, planning, contentious
probate/inheritance claims, family proceedings, possession
proceedings, landlord & tenant proceedings).
We choose
barristers appropriate to the complexity of any particular
case.
We are also
associated with the Alton CAB by providing free advice on a
rota basis.
